The anime adaptation of Witch Hat Atelier is being produced by studio Bug Films under the direction of Ayumu Watanabe. During a panel at Anime Expo 2024, Watanabe shared insights into the production process and highlighted Shirahama’s active role in the project. According to Watanabe, Shirahama has been fully committed to the anime’s development, attending every meeting and offering invaluable input.
“Every time we have a writer’s meeting, Shirahama-sensei has honestly been very generous with her presence,” Watanabe revealed. “She attends every single meeting, so hopefully we’re meeting her expectations as a team. The entire staff holds Witch Hat Atelier in high regard, so we put great care into every submission for approval, often diving deeper into the details to capture the essence of the manga. Shirahama-sensei has been incredibly generous, gentle, and kind in her feedback, which has fostered a strong collaborative relationship.”
Shirahama’s involvement is not limited to overseeing the project; she is also open to the necessary adjustments that come with adapting a manga to the screen. Her willingness to work closely with the team ensures that the anime will stay true to the spirit of the original work while successfully transitioning into a new medium.
Fans won’t have to wait much longer to see the results of this collaboration. Witch Hat Atelier is scheduled to premiere in 2025 and will be exclusively available on Crunchyroll for viewers in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the CIS regions.
