Tokyo—The Haikyu!! manga series continues to captivate fans with the release of a new music video featuring SPYAIR’s “Orange.” The song, originally the theme for The Dumpster Battle movie, accompanies this latest video, adding to the ongoing celebration of the beloved volleyball-themed franchise. The Dumpster Battle premiered in February 2024 as the first of two final films, with a Blu-ray release scheduled for this fall in Japan.
In addition to the music video, the Haikyu!! anime has announced a special event to mark its 10th anniversary. Titled “NEXT STEP,” the event is set to take place on March 2, 2025, with key cast members, including Ayumu Murase and Kaito Ishikawa, expected to attend.
Haikyu!! originated as a manga by Haruichi Furudate, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020. The series concluded with 405 chapters, compiled into 45 volumes. The English version, licensed by Viz Media, follows the story of Shoyo Hinata, who, after losing his first and last volleyball match against Tobio Kageyama—known as the “King of the Court”—vows to become his rival. However, fate brings them together as teammates in high school.
The anime adaptation, produced by Production I.G, debuted in 2014. It was followed by a sequel in late 2015, which concluded in early 2016 after 25 episodes. The third season, Haikyu!! Karasuno High School vs Shiratorizawa Academy, aired in the fall of 2016 with 10 episodes, followed by the Haikyu!! Riku vs Kuu OVA. The most recent series installment, Haikyuu!! To the Top, aired in two parts: the first in winter 2020 and the second in fall 2020.
Beyond the television series, the Haikyu!! franchise has expanded into multiple recap movies, OVAs, side stories, and omake, further cementing its legacy in the world of anime. With the upcoming 10th anniversary event and the continued release of new content, Haikyu!! remains a fan-favorite, celebrating the enduring spirit of teamwork and competition.
