Popular anime series My Dress-Up Darling has delighted fans with the release of new official artwork showcasing its beloved protagonist, Marin Kitagawa, in a summer kimono.
The artwork, which has been shared on the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, features Marin dressed in a blue yukata paired with a red obi. The scene captures her with a slightly distressed expression as one of her sandals slips off, adding a touch of realism to the illustration. This visual was released as part of the promotion for an upcoming merchandise collection centered around My Dress-Up Darling.
The new merchandise collaboration with PremiumShop is set to launch on August 24, 2024, in four major cities across Japan. Fans can look forward to exclusive “original goods featuring newly drawn summery illustrations” of the series’ characters. In addition to the new collection, PremiumShop will also offer previously released items from the My Dress-Up Darling clothing line, including graphic tees, hoodies, and shoulder bags featuring Marin and Shizuku. These items will be available worldwide through the WorldShopping service.
This latest artwork follows a series of summer-themed releases for the My Dress-Up Darling franchise. In June, the anime’s animation director unveiled a nostalgic Marin illustration titled “Ohisa/Long time no see,” continuing the summer vibe. Additionally, Melty Princess recently announced a new Marin-chan figure in her swimsuit from Episode 2, further fueling excitement among fans.
Moreover, My Dress-Up Darling creator Shinichi Fukuda has been actively engaging with fans, recently releasing a color illustration of Marin in a “Chinese-style” waitress outfit. This was done to promote the series’ pop-up café openings in Ikebukuro and Osaka during the summer and fall seasons. Fukuda also celebrated the manga’s milestone of surpassing 10 million copies in circulation with a special commemorative artwork.
My Dress-Up Darling continues to captivate audiences with its charming characters and vibrant art, making it a must-follow for anime enthusiasts this summer.
