Adult Swim has officially announced the premiere date for “Rick and Morty: The Anime,” a highly anticipated spin-off of the original series. Slated for release on August 15, 2024, at midnight, the anime will consist of 10 episodes and will be available for streaming on Max the following day. A Japanese dub will be released two days later.
The project brings back Takashi Sano, known for his work on the “Rick and Morty” shorts “Rick and Morty vs. Genocider” and “Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil).” This new anime series, however, is confirmed to be a standalone endeavor, separate from the main storyline of the original show. This independence in narrative explains the return of characters like Tammy, who was previously defeated in the Season 4 finale of the original series.
The spin-off also introduces a new voice cast to portray the iconic Smith family. Rick Sanchez and Jerry Smith will be voiced by Daniels, while Gabriel Regojo takes on the role of Morty. Donna Bella Litton will voice Summer, and Patricia Duran will lend her voice to both Beth and Space Beth.
With its distinct storyline and fresh voice talent, “Rick and Morty: The Anime” is poised to offer fans a new perspective on the beloved franchise. The new trailer for the series is available for viewing now, building anticipation for the upcoming premiere.
