Look Back,” the new anime movie by Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, has been hailed as a “moving” masterpiece following its first preview screening in Japan. Based on Fujimoto’s manga published on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ in July 2021, the film follows Fujino, an overly confident youngster, and her introverted neighbor Kyomoto, who bond over their love of illustrating. Directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama with a screenplay by Fujimoto, the film features the voices of Yumi Kawa and Mizuki Yoshida.
A fan shared, “I went to the preview screening of Look Back! I seriously cried, it was so moving… It’s amazing. The animation was good too, and I really felt Tatsuki Fujimoto’s emotions. Everyone, please watch it.” Another said, “Look Back… I cried so much I might never be able to watch it again,” while a third added, “I’m so glad I got to see [Look Back]. I cried.” The emotional impact was so profound that viewers reported needing handkerchiefs to mop up their tears.
