Iñaki Godoy Reveals Iconic Scenes He Hopes to See in Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action Series

by Hazel

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece has set a high standard for anime adaptations, condensing the extensive arcs of the beloved series into digestible episodic chunks. With anticipation building for Season 2, Luffy actor Iñaki Godoy has shared his excitement for three iconic scenes he hopes the series will eventually bring to life.

In an interview with YouTuber Full Haki Marco, translated by ComicBook.com, Godoy revealed the three scenes he’s most eager to see adapted:

Nico Robin’s “I Want to Live” Scene from the Enies Lobby Arc: This tear-jerking scene is a pivotal moment in Nico Robin’s character development, where she expresses her desire to live and be a part of the Straw Hat crew.

The Entirety of the Marineford Arc: Known for its intense battles and dramatic events, the Marineford arc is one of the most climactic and significant arcs in the series.

While these scenes are fan favorites, they are significantly farther along in the One Piece storyline compared to where the live-action series currently stands. The Alabasta arc concludes the five-part Alabasta saga, while the Nico Robin scene occurs a story arc and a half later. The Marineford arc is part of the series’ pre-time-skip content.

Despite the lengthy journey ahead, Godoy is committed to his role. “I am happy to play Luffy and will play Luffy for as long as it makes sense,” Godoy told Full Haki Marco. “Whatever time it takes, if I am playing Luffy, it’s because I am happy to play him, I want to play him, and it makes sense for me to play him.”

Season 2 of Netflix’s One Piece is expected to drop in 2025, with filming slated to begin soon. While details about the upcoming season are limited, posts from series creator Eiichiro Oda and Godoy have confirmed that the season will introduce Tony Tony Chopper, the Straw Hat crew’s doctor, and focus on the Alabasta arc.

There is also a high likelihood that the live-action adaptation will continue to alter the order of events and introduce new storylines, similar to Season 1. The first season successfully condensed 93 chapters (approximately 17 hours of anime) into eight hour-long episodes and included original content, such as the depiction of Koby’s and Admiral Garp’s student-mentor relationship, which was not shown in the manga or anime.

Iñaki Godoy’s enthusiasm for the future of Netflix’s One Piece live-action series highlights the dedication and passion he brings to his role as Luffy. With key arcs like Alabasta, Enies Lobby, and Marineford on the horizon, fans have much to look forward to as the series continues to bring the epic adventures of the Straw Hat pirates to life.
