After a lengthy hiatus, One Piece is returning with fresh episodes. The long-running anime series will pick up where it left off with the Egghead Arc, and fans outside of Japan received exciting news this week. Crunchyroll confirmed that new episodes will stream simultaneously with the Japanese release, starting April 6, 2025.
The Egghead Arc marks a pivotal moment in the One Piece saga, signaling the beginning of the end for Luffy’s story. This arc is the first part of “The Final Saga,” which will eventually conclude the series after more than 25 years. However, fans need not worry about saying goodbye anytime soon. Creator Eiichiro Oda has stated that the manga will not conclude before 2027, meaning the anime could continue as late as 2030, given that it’s over a hundred chapters behind the manga’s storyline.
While the anime’s return has been eagerly awaited, the gap in episodes was anticipated. In October, an announcement confirmed the series would take a break and return in 2025, likely due to the intense production schedule affecting the team.
For fans of the English dub, there’s more good news. Crunchyroll will release episodes 1109-1122, along with One Piece Specials 14-16, starting next week, providing another way to catch up without subtitles.
As One Piece fans celebrate the anime’s return, there’s less clarity around the live-action series. While filming for Season 2 of the Netflix show has wrapped and a first-look image has been released, the complex special effects required may delay its 2025 debut. Netflix has yet to announce a release date, though Season 3 is already in production.
New One Piece episodes will begin streaming on Crunchyroll on April 6.
