Ahead of Liam Hemsworth’s debut as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher season 4, Netflix has released a new animated film, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, set to premiere on February 11. The film’s latest trailer teases a brutal battle between humans and sea creatures.
The movie brings back Doug Cockle, who voices Geralt in the video games, and features live-action stars Joey Batey as Jaskier and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer. Christina Wren joins the cast as Essie Daven, a new character who plays a central role in the story.
The trailer shows Essie joining Geralt and Jaskier as they investigate a series of attacks. As Geralt searches for answers, he faces a growing conflict while grappling with trust issues and the possibility of a new romance. His dream of “coin, peace, and quiet” seems far from reach.
The plot adapts Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story A Little Sacrifice from his collection Sword of Destiny. Set in 1244 on The Witcher timeline, the events occur shortly after Geralt and Yennefer meet in season 1.
Netflix has provided an official synopsis for the film: “Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter, is hired to investigate a series of attacks in a seaside village and finds himself drawn into a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople. He must rely on friends—old and new—to solve the mystery before tensions between the two sides lead to all-out war.”
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is the second animated film set in Sapkowski’s dark fantasy world, following The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf in 2021.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep will be available on Netflix starting February 11. In the meantime, check out our guides to the best Netflix shows and movies currently available.
