The official website for the Little Shark’s Day Out (known as Odekake Kozame in Japan) anime series has revealed details for the upcoming feature film set to release in the summer of 2025. The film will be titled Eiga Odekake Kozame: Tokai no Otomodachi (Little Shark’s Day Out The Movie: A Friend in A Big City), accompanied by a new teaser trailer and visual.
In the trailer, Kana Hanazawa, who voices the main character Kozame-chan, narrates the story. The film will also introduce two new characters: Ankou-chan and Usame-chan. Megumi Han, known for her role as Gon Freecss in Hunter x Hunter, will voice Ankou-chan, while Misaki Kuno, who voices Momo Kawamoto in March Comes in Like a Lion, will voice Usame-chan.
The movie’s synopsis offers a glimpse into the plot:
Kozame-chan, having arrived at Yauo-cho station, encounters a sad girl named Sora sitting on a bench. Sora shares that she’s transferring to a high school in the city, feeling lonely and uncertain about her new life. Kozame-chan, comforting her, reassures her that she’ll make new friends in the city, after showing her a magazine filled with images of exciting city life.
As the two part ways, Kozame-chan notices a glittering city poster and, almost magically, a shark-shaped cloud floats overhead. Intrigued, Kozame-chan follows the cloud and boards a train heading into the bustling city. With the bright neon lights and the crowd of people in the bustling scramble crossing, Kozame-chan embarks on a little adventure in the “Tokai” – the Big City.
The Little Shark’s Day Out web anime, based on the manga by Penguin Box, has been streaming on YouTube since August 2023, and the movie is anticipated to expand on the series’ heartwarming and charming narrative.
