The official YouTube channel for Mashin Sozoden Wataru, the upcoming winter 2025 TV anime and fourth installment of the Mashin Hero Wataru franchise, has released a new trailer that introduces the main characters and their magical robots. This latest entry in the popular series is set to premiere in Japan on January 12, 2025.
In addition to the trailer, the clip also features the anime’s ending theme, “Pocket,” performed by the eight-member male dance and vocal group FANTASTICS from EXILE TRIBE. Sekai, a member of FANTASTICS, shared his excitement about contributing to the series, saying, “We are very honored to perform the theme song for Wataru. I’m excited to see how Wataru’s world will unfold, and I think today’s kids will really enjoy the music!”
Exclusive Short Anime Series Launches Alongside TV Anime
To complement the upcoming TV series, an original short anime series will be available on the Mashin Sozoden Wataru official YouTube channel. Produced by Plott, the short series will explore activities of Wataru and his friends that are not featured in the main anime. The first episode is set to stream on December 13 at 17:30 JST (00:30 PT).
About the TV Anime
The plot of Mashin Sozoden Wataru follows Wataru, a young and adventurous “RyuTuber,” as he pursues stardom in a world filled with magical robots. The main voice cast includes:

- Maro – Megu Umezawa
- Kakeru Amabe – Atsumi Tanezaki
- Wataru Hoshibe – Mutsumi Tamura
- Ofurain – Katsuyuki Konishi
- Mashin Ryujinmaru – Tomokazu Sugita
Directed by Yumi Kamakura (known for Inazuma Eleven Ares) at Bandai Namco Pictures, the series features character designs by Mayuko Nakano (The Vampire Dies in No Time) and Yoshinori Yumoto (Daily Lives of High School Boys), with music composed by Ryuichi Takada, Keiichi Hirokawa, Oliver Good, and Keita Inoue.
A Legacy of Wataru
The Mashin Hero Wataru franchise, originally produced by Sunrise, first aired in Japan in 1988 and has since spawned two sequels in 1990 and 1997, as well as three anime OVAs. In 2020, a web series titled Mashin Eiyuden Wataru: Shichi Kon no Ryujinmaru streamed on YouTube, continuing the franchise’s legacy.
With Mashin Sozoden Wataru, fans of the series can look forward to a new chapter in this iconic franchise.
