Kadokawa has officially unveiled the promotional video, theme song artists, and premiere date for Unnamed Memory Act.2, the highly anticipated second season of the anime adaptation of Kuji Furumiya’s Unnamed Memory light novel series. The anime is set to debut on January 7, 2024, at 11:30 p.m. JST on AT-X, before airing on other networks.
The newly released promotional video previews the opening theme song, “Unsung Ballad,” performed by TRUE, while Arika will perform the ending theme, “Inclusion.” A recap video of the first season was also streamed to help prepare fans for the continuation of the story.
Starting January 8, Unnamed Memory Act.2 will be available for streaming on d Anime Store in Japan. International audiences can also look forward to the anime’s simulcast on Crunchyroll.
Returning Cast and Crew
Yoshiki Nakajima and Atsumi Tanezaki will reprise their roles as Oscar and Tinasha, respectively, for the second season. The anime’s staff remains largely unchanged, with Kazuya Miura (known for Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs and Kan Colle Season 2: Let’s Meet at Sea) returning as the director at ENGI. Deko Akao, who has worked on Komi Can’t Communicate, Noragami, and The Case Study of Vanitas, is once again handling the series scripts.
Chika Nōmi, who previously adapted the character designs for the first season, will return to adapt chibi’s original designs for the new season. Additionally, Akito Matsuda, renowned for his compositions in Sound! Euphonium and Liz and the Blue Bird, will be composing the music for the second season.
About the Series
The first season of Unnamed Memory premiered on April 9, 2024, and was also simulcast by Crunchyroll. The anime is based on the light novel series written by Kuji Furumiya and illustrated by chibi. Unnamed Memory follows the story of Oscar, the crown prince of the powerful kingdom of Farsas, who is cursed to never sire an heir. To break the curse, Oscar seeks out Tinasha, the continent’s most powerful witch, who is rumored to grant the wishes of those who can climb her tower. However, Oscar’s wish is unconventional—he asks Tinasha to become his bride.
Yen Press publishes both the light novel series and its manga adaptation in English. The light novel series has received widespread acclaim, ranking #1 in the 2020 edition of Takarajimasha’s Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! guidebook.
Naoki Koshimizu’s manga adaptation of Unnamed Memory launched in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine in September 2020.
