The highly anticipated second season of My Happy Marriage, the anime adaptation of Akumi Agitogi’s Japanese light novel series, is set to premiere on Netflix on January 6, 2025. The announcement was confirmed by Kadokawa, who also revealed that the season will air on Japanese television on the same day.
Originally published as a web novel, My Happy Marriage was later picked up by Fujimi Shobo and has been released since January 2019 under their Fujimi L Bunko imprint. The series quickly gained popularity, leading to its anime adaptation produced by Kinema Citrus, which debuted in July 2023.
The plot centers on Miyo Saimori, a young woman born into a noble family but cursed with no supernatural abilities, which isolates her from her family. Forced into servitude by her cruel stepmother, Miyo’s hopes of a better life seem distant. However, as she reaches marriageable age, her future takes an unexpected turn when she is betrothed to Kiyoka Kudou, a seemingly cold and cruel military commander. Previous fiancées of Kudou have fled within days, adding to Miyo’s fears. Yet, as the two begin to get to know each other, Miyo finds that her fiancé may not be the monster she had imagined. Their growing bond leads both to discover that love and happiness are possible, even in the most unlikely of circumstances.
The upcoming season promises to continue exploring the evolving relationship between Miyo and Kiyoka, as well as deeper character development and new challenges for the couple. Fans of the series can look forward to the continuation of this heartwarming and dramatic story when it hits Netflix in early 2025.
My Happy Marriage Season 2 is expected to follow the same captivating narrative as its first season, combining romance with supernatural elements that have made the series a fan favorite.
