Two major titles in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:0096, are set to join the GundamInfo streaming platform before the year’s end. These iconic anime will be available starting December 20, offering fans and newcomers alike the chance to explore some of the most celebrated entries in the long-running mecha series. However, as these shows arrive, another popular series will be departing from the platform, urging viewers to catch it before it leaves.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00: A “Spiritual Remake” of Gundam Wing
Mobile Suit Gundam 00, first released in the late 2000s, has been lauded by fans as one of the most thoughtful and introspective installments in the Gundam universe. Often considered a “post-9/11” iteration of the franchise, the series centers on the efforts of Celestial Being, a mysterious organization led by protagonist Setsuna F. Seiei, who uses advanced mobile suits to end war around the globe. Running for 50 episodes, Gundam 00 is recognized for its contemporary themes, taking place in the real-world Anno Domini calendar and exploring complex political and moral issues. Set in the Universal Century timeline, Unicorn takes place years after the events of Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack. The series follows Banagher Links, a young man who becomes entangled in the battle for the powerful “Unicorn Gundam,” a mobile suit with a deep connection to the conflict between the Earth Federation and the Neo Zeon forces. Unicorn is a continuation of the classic Gundam storyline, offering a compelling narrative and stunning visuals.
One Show Leaves, Another Joins
While Gundam 00 and Gundam Unicorn RE:0096 are coming to GundamInfo, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED HD Remaster will be leaving the platform after December 31. Fans who wish to finish watching the show will need to do so before the end of the year. Gundam SEED, originally broadcast in 2002, remains a fan favorite, particularly for its themes of war, morality, and human connection. The HD Remaster version, which improves upon the original animation quality, has been available on GundamInfo but will be removed from the platform as the year closes.
For those still eager to watch Gundam SEED, the original broadcast version is also available on streaming services like Netflix and Crunchyroll. There is no word on when or if the HD Remaster will be removed from those platforms. Additionally, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny HD Remaster is available on Netflix, giving fans a chance to continue the story within the Cosmic Era timeline.
