Over the years, Yao’s portrayal of Franky—an eccentric, bionic character with boundless energy—has become one of the series’ most recognizable voices. However, the actor’s ongoing health struggles have made it increasingly difficult to meet the physical demands of the role.
“I can no longer match the level of energy that Franky demands,” Yao said in a statement. “After careful consideration, I’ve decided it’s time to step down.” Yao’s departure from the role of Franky follows a series of health issues that have affected his ability to perform.
Replacement to Be Revealed at Jump Fiesta 2025
