Crunchyroll has announced the addition of The Master of Diabolism, the anime adaptation of the popular Chinese novel Mo Dao Zu Shi by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, to its streaming library. Starting December 11, 2024, both the first and second seasons will be available for streaming on the platform. However, it remains unclear if the spin-off series, The Founder of Diabolism Q, will also be added in the future.
As is typical with Crunchyroll’s distribution model, The Master of Diabolism anime will not be available globally. The streaming rights are limited, meaning that regions like China, Japan, and Korea will not have access to the show on Crunchyroll. Additionally, Russian viewers will not be able to stream the series through the platform. For audiences in other parts of the world, the anime will be available starting December 11.
The anime adaptation consists of 23 episodes in total, with 15 episodes in the first season and 8 episodes in the second season. Notably, the third season, which includes an additional 12 episodes, is not included in the Crunchyroll release. This season originally aired in 2022, completing the storyline.
In addition to the anime, Mo Dao Zu Shi has been adapted into several formats. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English translations of both the novel and manga adaptations. The live-action drama The Untamed, based on the series, is available for streaming on Netflix. Fans of the franchise can also explore the mobile game My Treasure x The Untamed, available in China.
