A highly anticipated TV anime adaptation of The Dinner Table Detective (Nazotoki wa Dinner no Atode), the popular mystery novel series by Tokuya Higashigawa, is slated to premiere in 2025.
The announcement was accompanied by a teaser visual, crafted by the anime’s original character designer Oreko Tachibana, known for her work on Promise Cinderella. The visual highlights the distinct art style that fans can expect in the upcoming adaptation.
The story follows Reiko Hosho, a young, aspiring detective who also happens to be the daughter of a wealthy business tycoon, and her ever-reliable butler, Kageyama. The series, first serialized in 2007 by Shogakukan, was later compiled into a series of tankōbon volumes beginning in 2010. Over the years, The Dinner Table Detective has garnered significant attention, inspiring not only a live-action drama and film but also a stage play and a manga adaptation.
The anime is set to build on the success of its predecessors, bringing the series’ signature blend of mystery and intrigue to a broader audience in 2025.
