After years of anticipation, new details have emerged regarding the highly awaited anime adaptation of Twisted Wonderland. Disney has confirmed that the anime will begin streaming on Disney+ in October 2025, marking the first major update in three years since the project’s initial announcement.
The newly revealed key visual showcases the seven dormitory leaders, depicted in the order of their importance in the storyline. Riddle, leader of the Heartslabyul dorm, appears first, reflecting the game’s opening chapter. Meanwhile, Malleus, leader of the Diasomnia dorm, is placed at the farthest end, as Diasomnia represents the final chapter in the game’s main story arc.
In a press release, Disney confirmed that the anime will span three seasons, each corresponding to a different chapter from the original Twisted Wonderland visual novel. The first season, titled Episode of Heartslabyul, will focus on the Heartslabyul chapter. Subsequent seasons will explore other chapters, including Savanaclaw and Octavinelle. Additionally, the anime will incorporate elements from the Twisted Wonderland manga adaptation, enriching the narrative with scenes and details not found in the game.
Twisted Wonderland is set in a magical academy where seven dormitories are inspired by famous Disney villains. The protagonist, an ordinary human, finds themselves transported to this enchanted world and embarks on a series of adventures alongside their companion, a mysterious creature named Grim. While the game is often mistaken for a dating sim, it is, in fact, a visual novel with a rich, character-driven story.
With its October 2025 premiere, Twisted Wonderland promises to bring the magic of its original game and manga to the screen. Further updates, including trailers and more details, are expected to surface as the release date approaches.
