Jujutsu Kaisen Director Announces New Disney Anime, “Bullet/Bullet,” in 2025

The director of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, Sunghoo Park, is set to return with a new anime series, Bullet/Bullet, slated for release in the summer of 2025. The announcement was made during the Disney Content Showcase 2024, held on November 21 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The anime will stream exclusively on Disney+.

First Look Revealed

A key visual and an action-packed trailer for Bullet/Bullet were unveiled at the event, giving fans their first glimpse at the upcoming series. The trailer has already been described as an intense showcase of the anime’s action, and Japanese outlet Oricon even referred to the team behind the project as a “gathering of masters.”

A Star-Studded Creative Team

Bullet/Bullet is being scripted by Aki Kindaichi, known for his work on the upcoming Uma Musume Cinderella Gray. The character design is being handled by Takahiro Yoshimatsu, whose previous work includes Hunter x Hunter, Trigun, and Overlord. Yoshimatsu will also serve as the series’ chief animation director. Additionally, Hidetaka Tenjin, celebrated for his work on Hellsing Ultimate and Gundam Evolve, is responsible for the mechanical concept art and design. Shin Misawa, director of Fire Emblem and Initial D, will take on the role of car action director.

A Personal Project for Park

Sunghoo Park, who also wrote the original Bullet/Bullet story, expressed his excitement about the series finally nearing its premiere. Reflecting on the project, he said, “I’m very happy that what I felt 10 years ago has now become film. I want everyone to watch the growth story of the main character Gear, and I want everyone to enjoy the music, the voice actors’ acting, and especially the car action this time. I’m excited to be able to work with the staff I personally admire. Bullet/Bullet is filled with strong feelings! I hope you will enjoy it. Go ahead!”

A Follow-Up to “Ninja Kamui”

Bullet/Bullet marks Park’s return to anime after his recent work on Ninja Kamui. The series has been well-received, with Adult Swim’s Jason DeMarco praising its success. DeMarco also mentioned that both Toonami and the network’s executives are pleased with the performance of Ninja Kamui. While a second season of Ninja Kamui was rumored earlier this year, DeMarco clarified that no official announcement had been made regarding its continuation.

Other Disney Anime Announcements

In addition to Bullet/Bullet, the Disney Content Showcase 2024 also revealed several other exciting anime projects, including the debut trailer for the Twisted Wonderland anime, a reboot of CAT’S EYE, and the premiere of Wandance in 2025. Disney also confirmed the licensing of Medalist in select regions and announced that nine Japanese studios will participate in the highly anticipated Star Wars: Visions Season 3.

As Bullet/Bullet builds anticipation ahead of its 2025 release, fans are eager to see how Park’s signature storytelling and dynamic animation will unfold in this action-packed new series.
