The UK-based distributor, The Media Pioneers, has secured global distribution rights (excluding Singapore, Greater China, and Korea) for the 2D anime series Codename X, produced by the Korean studio SIDE9. The 26-episode series, with each episode running 13 minutes, has garnered international interest and has already been sold to several broadcasters and streaming platforms.
Among the buyers are Israel’s Junior Channel, MBC in the MENA region, the European SVOD language-learning platform Lingopie, and Ceska Televise in the Czech Republic.
Maggie Liang, managing director of The Media Pioneers, expressed her excitement about the acquisition. “When I first saw the poster, I knew Codename X was exactly what we were looking for,” Liang stated. “The story is captivating, and it’s a perfect fit for kids aged six and up, as well as tweens. They’ll be glued to the screen, eager to see what happens next.”
Codename X tells the story of Blue, a young boy who unexpectedly travels back in time to when his mother, Violet, was 11 years old. Blue soon learns that his mother was a top-ranking officer at M.S.G. and one of the world’s most accomplished spies. Together, mother and son embark on thrilling missions, but their greatest challenge remains—can they change the future?
In addition to acquiring the rights, The Media Pioneers has developed an English version of the series and introduced recap clips at the start of each episode to help viewers keep track of the storylines.
Codename X is poised to captivate audiences around the world, combining adventure and time travel in a format that promises to entertain a broad age group.
