About the Manga

Uoto’s Orb: On the Movements of the Earth was serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits from September 2020 to April 2022, concluding with eight volumes. The story has been well-received both in Japan and abroad, with an official English version published by Seven Seas Entertainment. The manga is set in 15th-century Europe, where the Inquisition burns heretics at the stake. The protagonist, Rafal, a brilliant young mind destined for theological study, instead places his faith in Reason. His revolutionary idea that the Earth orbits the Sun leads him into conflict with the powerful religious authorities.

The plot deepens a decade later, when two members of the Watch Guild, Oczy and Gras, discover a hidden chest containing Rafal’s heretical writings. They must decide whether to risk their lives by selling the forbidden knowledge or face the dire consequences of holding such dangerous truths.

As the October 5 premiere approaches, fans can look forward to an immersive adaptation that promises to bring Uoto’s gripping tale of science, faith, and rebellion to life on screen.
