Witchy Pretty Cure!!: MIRAI DAYS Unveils Visual, Staff, and Theme Song Artist

by Hazel

The official website for Mahō Tsukai Precure!!: MIRAI DAYS, the upcoming sequel to the Witchy Pretty Cure! (also known as Mahō Tsukai Precure! or Maho Girls Precure!) anime, has released new details about the series. On Thursday, the site revealed a new visual, along with key information about the main staff and the theme song artist for the anime.

Veteran director Takayuki Hamana, known for his work on last year’s Yes! Precure 5 sequel series, Power of Hope: Precure Full Bloom, will serve as the series director for Witchy Pretty Cure!!: MIRAI DAYS. The animation will be produced by Toei Animation in collaboration with Studio DEEN. Isao Murayama, who worked on both Witchy Pretty Cure! and Star Twinkle Precure, will return as the series script supervisor. Asami Sodeyama (Hanabichan: The Girl Who Popped Out of the Game World) is responsible for adapting Emiko Miyamoto’s original character designs, while Hiroshi Takaki (Witchy Pretty Cure!) will compose the music.

Rie Kitagawa is set to return as the performer of the opening theme song, “Dokkin Mahō Tsukai Precure! Part 3,” continuing her role from the original series, where she performed “Dokkin Mahō Tsukai Precure!” and its sequel theme, “Dokkin Mahō Tsukai Precure! Part 2.”

The sequel is scheduled to premiere in the “Animazing!!!” programming block on ABC TV, TV Asahi, and their affiliate channels on January 11, 2025, at 26:00 (effectively, January 12 at 2:00 a.m.). The original announcement had initially slated the anime for a 2024 release. The sequel’s website features the tagline, “The two futures are now connected with the magic words ‘Cure Up RaPaPa!'”

Mahō Tsukai Precure!!: MIRAI DAYS is one of two projects celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Precure franchise, as announced by Toei Animation in March 2023. These projects are aimed at both longtime fans who grew up with the original series and new viewers following the franchise’s latest entries. The other anniversary project was the Power of Hope: Precure Full Bloom television anime that aired last fall.

Witchy Pretty Cure! originally aired from 2016 to 2017, focusing on themes of magic and witches. Unlike other entries in the franchise, the Precures in this series drew their powers from legendary witches rather than legendary warriors.

The Precure franchise’s 21st and most recent series, Wonderful Precure!, premiered on February 5, 2024.
