The highly anticipated anime movie Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom is set to hit theaters in North America on November 8, following its initial premiere in Japan. Crunchyroll has confirmed that they will be distributing the film in the United States and Canada, with details about other international releases still pending. The movie, animated by MADHOUSE, will cover the “Holy Kingdom” arc from the popular Overlord series.
Fans were recently treated to a trailer that features the movie’s theme song, “WHEELER-DEALER” by OxT, which has only heightened the anticipation.
In Japan, Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom will have an advance IMAX screening on September 13, followed by its general release on September 20. The official synopsis for the movie is as follows:
Under the reign of Sacred Queen Calca, the Roebel Sacred Kingdom had enjoyed a long period of peace, fortified by its great walls. However, that tranquility is shattered when the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth and the Demi-Human Alliance launch a sudden and devastating attack. Despite the best efforts of Remedios, the grandmaster of the Sacred Paladin Order, and High Priestess Kelart, the kingdom’s forces are unable to withstand Jaldabaoth’s overwhelming power, leaving the kingdom teetering on the brink of destruction. In a desperate bid for survival, Remedios and her subordinate Neia set out to seek aid from the Sorcerer Kingdom Ains Ooal Gown, a grotesque nation ruled by the undead and despised by the Sacred Kingdom’s citizens.
